BETTER BEER BUREAU*

It is more than "just" BEER!

Here at the BETTER BEER BUREAU we strive for the enjoyment of beer, the honoring of it’s gifts, and suggested ways to enjoy beer as a compliment to whatever you do.

Please feel free to
suggest new ideas, articles, and any suggestions to enhance the
Better Beer Bureau.  If you have
a website, feel free to post our logo and add a link to show your support.

The Better Beer Bureau also feels it must take stands on the integrity of Beer.

To wit:

Fruit does not belong in beer. Putting an orange or lemon in your beer is masking and affects the true flavor of the beer. The only exception is the lime in Mexican beer for tradition purposes.   All silly fruit additions are nothing more than marketing ideas gone amok. This also includes adding large amounts of fruit flavoring in beer.  You want fruit- drink juice.  Beer is hops, grain and yeast…it is what it is and a pure beverage.

The trend by Miller and now Budwieser to "brew" lime & salt favored beer is just plain STUPID.  Does anyone remember Miller's last idiotic beer called Miller Clear?

Light beer is still beer as long as it has a real flavor and not just watered down.

Beer is not wine.  Doing silly swirl and swish tastings are a foolish waste of time.  Drink it like the robust beverage that it is.

We support regional small breweries, microbreweries as well as the large mega brands.  Beer can be as personal as the local brew and as consistent as the mega brands.  As long as you enjoy it, it is all good!

STUPID BEER LAWS:
A Minnesota law that requires you to register your keg when you pick it up.  This is a state where you do not have to register your gun, but must register your keg! This makes very little sense and is an example of legislation gone mad!
-Carter Punko

In Utah, all beer including Malt Liquor is restricted to 3.2% in alcohol content.  Another reason to avoid Utah and it's stupid liquor rules!
-Jaque Rules

In Wisconsin, our store attendants are not allowed to scan beer or any alcaholic beverage if they are under the age of 18, so when I go to the check out with beer and she happens to be under 18 she has to get someone over there over the age of 18 to scan the beer! What's gonna happen? Will she be irreversably corrupted by touching my beer?
-Michael R. Roth

We welcome being told of other silly beer laws around the world so EMAIL us.

Beer and it's benefits...For hundreds of years people have enjoyed beer for its taste, its refreshment, its gladdening effect, and even its health benefits. Throughout history beer was certainly safer to drink than most available water in Europe. From the Middle Ages right through to the Industrial Revolution beer provided nutrients and vitamins as well as pleasure" to the diets of men and women of all walks of life. Its simple available ingredients of grain, yeast, water and sometimes hops, beer covered all levels of social economic rank from kings to peasants

The health benefits of moderate beer consumption are being demonstrated time
and again in countless studies around the world.

Moderate beer drinking decreases the risk of developing high blood pressure and is associated with lower cholesterol levels.

  • Beer helps to reduce the chance of heart attack.

  • Beer decreases risk of coronary heart disease.

  • It also increases levels of "'good' cholesterol, which is a protective form of blood fat."

  • Moderate drinkers tend to have lower levels of fibrinogen, a protein that promotes blood clots.

  • It is helpful for "improving memory, problem solving, and reasoning ability."

  • Moderate drinking "is associated with fewer brain lesions and so-called silent strokes."

  • Reduces the risk of kidney stones as long as other water-based liquids are consumed in generous quantities as well.

  • Drinking beer helps to improve the circulation of blood in the brain.

  • It aids in reduction of the risks of "mental impairment” later in life.

  • And finally, drinking beer lowers stress levels.

So remember, drink beer for good health. It could be just what the doctor ordered!

A recent study found the average American walks about 900 miles per year.
--------------------------------
Another study found Americans drink, on average, 22 gallons of beer a year.

That means, on average, Americans get about 41 miles to the gallon.
----------------------------

Kind of makes you proud to be an
American.

A BETTER BEER BUREAU FACT:
Beer contains almost six times more potassium than sodium and it can be consumed better when combined with salty foods, so as to balance the potassium ions existing in the human body. A tip to protect your body against ethanol, which is the alcohol existing in alcoholic beverages, you should eat an oily type of food and thus decrease the chances of getting drunk with a few zips out of your beer glass. This oily coating that covers the inside of your stomach helps your body delay the absorption the alcohol you consume.
